wedding reception

How did a bride even begin to plan a wedding in the first place before we had Pinterest??

I spent hours pinning and scrolling through blog after blog… Eventually I decided on an outdoor reception and had this crazy idea to decorate using antique furniture to make if feel as if you were walking into a house (not sure if things really played out that way)

All of the furniture I used came from grandparents, friends, family and thrift shops which made everything feel special with a story behind it

It was so exciting (a little stressful at times) putting all the pieces together and seeing everything I had been imaging in my head for such a long time actually come to life!

This place was perfect for our outdoor reception!
Not only is it affordable, but it is HUGE which means endless possibilities..

That couch you see is my friends grandmothers… isn't it beautiful??  I used it as a prop in some of my bridals and loved that I was able to set it up at the reception as well

It was nice having this vanity set up for the bridesmaids to use as a place to get ready and also made a perfect spot to set down their bouquets until they needed them

personalized necklaces for the ladies

suspenders for the men

The flag banners & fans I found from Michelle Cope who got them from Anthropologie
The pompoms were ordered off Etsy

Our little lounge

If you've never had a J-Dawg… you're seriously missing out

Sadly our cake tipped over while it was being delivered so I won't be showing any pictures of the salvaged mess… My mom always said "not everything will turn out how you want it to" I'm just glad is was the cake and not a tragic dress story...

No cake smashed in the face for us!

and then we danced…

For our first dance together we performed the "Stanky Leg" and "Teach me how to Doggie"
Lets just say grandma wasn't too pleased.

After all it was a pretty perfect day..
My photographer was absolutely amazing and so fun to work with! Check her out here!
